Michelle grew up knowing the meaning of hard work as she witnessed her parents work multiple jobs to keep the family afloat. That experience ignited a passion for fighting for a better future for her community and she will fight for: affordable high quality healthcare, better jobs, reproductive rights, affordable education, immigration, ending gun violence, and LGBTQ rights.

Michelle was raised by her parents, Maribel and Daniel, who immigrated from northern Mexico to Rio Grande Valley, Texas. Michelle grew up knowing the meaning of hard work as she witnessed her parents work multiple jobs to keep the family afloat. Michelle is no stranger to the broken healthcare system; she experienced it firsthand when her mother was diagnosed with a disease that led to her passing. She became committed to fixing the same system that failed her family like many Americans. Michelle understands the importance of fighting for a good and working healthcare system since her mother was diagnosed with a disease and due to the broken healthcare system was unable to get the help she needed. That experience ignited a passion for fighting for a better future for her community and she will fight for: affordable high-quality healthcare, better jobs, reproductive rights, affordable education, immigration, ending gun violence, and LGBTQ rights. Michelle knows and understands the struggles of working families, that's why she’s passionate about making real change for Texans in her district.
