MJ Hegar is running to put people before politics and ensure that families have access to affordable and quality health coverage and economic opportunities. 

MJ Hegar is an Air Force combat veteran running to fight for Texas working families in the U.S. Senate. Raised in Texas’ Hill Country, Hegar grew up dreaming of serving our country as a military pilot. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, she enlisted in the Air Force and went on to serve three tours in Afghanistan as a rescue helicopter pilot until her helicopter was shot down by enemy fire. She was awarded a Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross with Valor for her bravery and heroism. Hegar has always stood up for what is right, from working with the ACLUto allow women to serve in combat roles in the military to fighting to provide economic opportunities and dignity to hardworking families, she’s never been afraid of a tough fight. 

 

Hegar lives in Round Rock with her husband, two young sons, and three stepchildren.
