TERESA BENITEZ-THOMPSON

A FIGHTER FOR NEVADA

Teresa’s path to public service was shaped by her upbringing. While her mother worked tirelessly as a waitress, Teresa knew that her sister and her family would need more support than they could provide themselves. She joined the Nevada Empowered Women’s Project to change an existing law that would force her sister to sacrifice her education in order to qualify for food assistance programs. She testified in front of the Nevada State Legislature and succeeded in changing the law, allowing her sister and women like her to pursue higher education while raising their children

Teresa went on to work as a social worker, helping place children with special needs into adoptive families. She later spent a decade supporting terminally ill patients. Her commitment to advocacy led her to run for the Nevada State Assembly, where she served for 12 years and held multiple terms as Majority Leader. Most recently, she served as Chief of Staff to Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford, where she worked to protect Nevadans from attacks by the Trump administration.

Now, Teresa is stepping up to serve Nevada's 2nd Congressional District, fighting to lower costs, protect jobs, and improve our health care system—because Nevada families deserve it.
