ABOUT RUBEN GALLEGO
The son of immigrants from Colombia and Mexico, Ruben was raised in Chicago by his mother alongside his three sisters and worked for most of his young adult life to help support his family. After supporting himself through school, he graduated from Harvard University, enlisted in the Marine Corps, and deployed to Iraq as an infantryman. After returning home, Ruben's military service inspired him to run for public office and advocate for veterans. He has spent his entire career fighting for veterans and Arizona's working families, from leading ballot initiatives as a Phoenix organizer to serving in the State House and, later, Congress.
Gallego has distinguished himself in Washington as a leading and trusted voice on national security issues. As Chairman of the Intelligence and Special Operations Subcommittee and the highest-ranking Latino on the House Armed Services Committee, he has proved to be a pivotal voice in the special forces and intelligence community. As Chairman of CHC BOLD PAC, he helped elect nine new Latinos to the House, including four in seats that were picked up by House Democrats and he led a national strategy to combat disinformation targeting Latinos.
He has faced the same challenges that so many Arizona families know, like when he paid his way through college by working as a janitor. It was this experience that propelled him to enter public service and represent the community he calls home. Arizonans deserve a Senator like Ruben, who has a proven track record of championing the rights of everyday working people.
