ABOUT
Robin Peguero
Democrat for Congress
Robin Peguero is a homicide prosecutor, January 6 congressional investigator, and first-generation American. His story is a South Florida story and an American story, one of loyalty and service.
Robin is the son of immigrants – a Dominican father and Ecuadorian mother. They came here in search of a better life, and they enlisted in the U.S. Army to give back to the country that gave them so much. It wasn’t easy. For years, Robin lived with his parents and sister in a tiny basement apartment. When he was five, they moved to Hialeah. His mother delivered mail for the USPS and his father taught in a Miami public school. They didn’t have much – but they worked hard, served their communities and country, and taught Robin to do the same.
ROBIN PEGUERO
A LEADER DEDICATED TO FLORIDA
That’s why Robin went into criminal law and became a prosecutor. It’s why he put criminals and predators behind bars to make our streets safer. And it’s why he exposed the violent insurrectionists who vandalized our Capitol and attacked police officers on January 6th.
Robin wanted to deliver on the promise of our constitution and the rule of law, the security of all Americans, and freedom from political violence. So when the violent criminals he helped expose were pardoned by Trump – without a word from Maria Elvira Salazar – he knew his work as a public servant was not done.
Maria Elvira Salazar is in complete lockstep with Trump, with disastrous results for Miami. She voted to slash Social Security and Medicare – despite the district having among the highest Medicare enrollment rates in the country – and made healthcare and prescriptions more expensive. Now, as Trump revokes Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Venezuelans, Nicaraguans, and Cubans and ramps up mass deportations of law-abiding immigrants, Salazar is scrambling to cover up her blind allegiance to Trump’s agenda.
It’s time we write a new story for South Florida. One where hard-working families stop being forced to choose between making rent or seeing a doctor. Where we’re kept safe from criminal and political violence. Where we no longer get squeezed by corporations and billionaires while politicians like Maria Elvira Salazar do their bidding.
We all have a story to write – and in Congress, Robin will fight to make sure that every American gets that chance.
